Star Wars Outlaws receives its inaugural story expansion today with the launch of the "A Pirate's Fortune" DLC across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms - all thanks to that infamous scoundrel Hondo Ohnaka.

Drew Rechner, Creative Director at Ubisoft's Massive Entertainment, reveals the DLC originated from the development team's collective passion for Hondo Ohnaka, the Weequay pirate previously featured in Darth Maul comics and Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series.

"Our team's enthusiasm for Hondo made his inclusion inevitable. The dynamic between Kay's rookie scoundrel persona and Hondo's veteran pirate experience creates perfect chemistry," Rechner explained to IGN.

Rechner elaborated, "We envisioned Kay evolving as a leader during this journey, with Hondo potentially serving as her mentor - though whether he actually helps or hinders remains delightfully ambiguous."

The expansion introduces fresh gameplay elements including confrontations with the Rokana Raiders crime syndicate, new ship upgrades through the Miyuki Trade League, and an innovative Shock blaster ability.

Following its September 4 release on Nintendo Switch 2, Rechner remained tight-lipped about platform-specific enhancements but promised forthcoming details: "We'll discuss specific features in due course - more announcements are coming."

Potential Switch 2 integration could leverage the system's unique controller functionality and next-generation GameChat capabilities.
