Nintendo Switch 2 Features a New C Button

Functionality To Be Unveiled in Upcoming Direct

The eagerly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 is slated for release in 2025. With a Nintendo Direct presentation scheduled for later today, April 2nd, anticipation is at a fever pitch. Interestingly, Nintendo may have already teased some aspects of the Switch 2 ahead of the event, specifically a new control feature.

Nintendo recently launched a smartphone application, Nintendo Today, designed to deliver the latest news and game information directly to players. Observant fans noted that the app's listings on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store included promotional images. One image prominently features the text: "Get updates on Nintendo Switch 2 news plus game info, videos, comics, and more every day."

A closer look at the image reveals what appears to be the final design of the Nintendo Switch 2 console. It showcases the newly styled Joy-Cons and confirms the presence of a mysterious C button on the right-hand controller.

In the initial Switch 2 teaser released in January, the new button located below the Home button was an unlabeled black square, leading to speculation about it being a social feature or a new sensor. This official image from the Nintendo Today app now confirms it is designated as a C button. Its specific function, however, is expected to be detailed during the official Nintendo Direct presentation.
