Sydney Sweeney, known for her role in Madame Web, is set to star in the upcoming film adaptation of the video game Split Fiction. The project, which is being spearheaded by Story Kitchen—the company behind the successful Sonic films—is gaining momentum. Jon M. Chu, the director of Wicked, will helm the movie, while the screenplay is being penned by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the writers of Deadpool & Wolverine. Story Kitchen is currently shopping this impressive talent package to Hollywood studios, anticipating a competitive bidding war.

The role Sydney Sweeney will take on in Split Fiction remains undecided, with the choice between playing either Zoe or Mio still up in the air.

Split Fiction, developed by Hazelight and led by designer Josef Fares, has been a massive success since its launch in March, selling over 2 million copies within its first week. It's also slated to be a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2. IGN's review of the game awarded it a 9/10, praising it as "an expertly crafted co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another, Split Fiction is a rollercoaster of constantly refreshed gameplay ideas and styles – and one that’s very hard to walk away from."

Hazelight's success extends beyond Split Fiction, with another of their games, It Takes Two, which sold 23 million copies, also in the process of being adapted into a film potentially starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

While there's always a risk that these adaptations may not come to fruition, the current wave of successful video game adaptations suggests a strong interest from Hollywood. Last year, Story Kitchen announced several other projects, including film adaptations of Just Cause, Dredge: The Movie, Kingmakers, Sleeping Dogs, and even a live-action Toys 'R' Us movie.

Meanwhile, Hazelight is already teasing its next game, keeping fans eagerly anticipating what's next from the acclaimed studio.
