Tencent has solidified its presence in the gaming industry by acquiring a 51% controlling stake in Kuro Games, the creative force behind the popular RPG, Wuthering Waves. This move not only underscores Tencent's ongoing expansion in the gaming sector but also promises continued innovation and growth for Kuro Games.

Rumors of Tencent's interest in acquiring a majority stake in Kuro Games surfaced back in March, but the deal was only recently finalized. Tencent has purchased a 37% share from Hero Entertainment, positioning itself as the sole external shareholder of Kuro Games. Despite this significant shift in ownership, Kuro Games has reassured its employees that it will maintain independent operations, a strategy akin to Tencent's approach with other studios like Riot Games and Supercell, where creative autonomy is largely preserved.

Wuthering Waves itself has been thriving with its updates. The current version 1.4 update has introduced the Somnoire: Illusive Realms mode and two new characters, alongside new weapons and upgrades. Players can also take advantage of Wuthering Waves codes to claim various in-game rewards.

Looking forward, Kuro Games is gearing up for the release of the version 2.0 update next month, which will introduce a new nation called Rinascita for players to explore, along with new characters, Carlotta and Roccia.
