Then, when 2017’s Beauty and the Beast remake surpassed a billion dollars at the box office? The floodgates opened.

With Disney’s newest live-action adaptation—the beloved and merchandising powerhouse Lilo & Stitch—arriving in theaters this week, following closely on the heels of Snow White, we decided to paint the roses red by compiling our list of the Best Live-Action Disney Remakes.

For some hardcore Disney fans, these live-action remakes are a hard pass. Regardless of how people feel about their commercial motives or whether they view them as soulless compared to the original animated versions, there are certainly gems among them.
