Releases Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E

Ubisoft has quietly unveiled Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E, a move that was covered by Eurogamer on December 20. This top-down multiplayer arcade shooter integrates cryptocurrency, requiring players to use it to participate.

As stated on Eden Online’s website, the game "expands the universe of Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix," which originally aired as a series on Netflix. Both the game and the series incorporate well-known Ubisoft IPs, such as Watch Dogs and Assassin’s Creed.

In addition to its standard online competitive multiplayer environment, access to the game is limited to 10,000 players. Each player must obtain a Citizen ID Card, which meticulously tracks everything from seasonal rankings to unique achievements and accolades. These cards will evolve based on a player's in-game performance.

To acquire a card, a player needs a crypto wallet and must purchase an NFT Niji Warrior ID card from Ubisoft’s dedicated claim page for $25.63. Owners of these IDs have the option to renounce their citizenship and sell their IDs to others, potentially increasing in value based on their in-game performance.

According to Ubisoft's listing on Magic Eden, an online marketplace for NFTs and other digital collectibles, the game is slated for a full launch in Q1 2025. Early adopters who secure their IDs will gain early access to the game.

A Netflix Series Inspired By Far Cry 3’s DLC

The Netflix series, Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, serves as an animated spinoff from Far Cry 3’s standalone expansion, Blood Dragon. Set in an alternate 1992, the series unfolds in Eden, a technocratic society governed by a single megacorporation.

Viewers follow the journey of Dolph Laserhawk, a supersoldier engineered by Eden Tech Military. After defecting, he embarked on heists with his boyfriend, Alex Taylor, who ultimately betrayed him. Recaptured by Eden, Laserhawk was coerced into joining The Ghosts, tasked with thwarting Taylor’s schemes.

While Ubisoft has kept the game's story under wraps, it is set within the same universe, where players assume the role of citizens under Eden's rule. Players can shape the game's narrative by boosting their citizen scores through mission completions, leaderboard updates, and active community engagement.
