Want to conquer High Rank in Monster Hunter Wilds? This guide will walk you through the process. For veteran hunters, High Rank is the heart of the Monster Hunter experience (at least until Master Rank arrives!).

How to Unlock High Rank

To unlock High Rank, you must complete the main storyline. Spoiler alert: The main story culminates in a battle within the Dragontorch. After defeating the monster and watching the subsequent cutscenes, the game will automatically transition to High Rank.

What is High Rank?

High Rank marks the beginning of the true Monster Hunter challenge. Expect significantly tougher monsters with increased health, damage, and a shorter fuse. This difficulty increase is accompanied by new weapon tiers, a fresh set of armor, and a whole new level of grinding that many consider the core gameplay loop.

High Rank also introduces dynamic environmental changes to Monster Hunter Wilds. Each region's two environmental states (e.g., a dust storm on the plains) become accessible in a cyclical pattern after completing the main story. A day/night cycle is also introduced, adding further variety to hunts. Prepare to encounter new monsters and variations of existing ones.
