Nintendo's 2021 remakes of the Famicom Detective Club games were a revelation. Now, in 2024, Emio – The Smiling Man arrives as a stunning new entry, both physically and digitally. This lavishly produced title feels like a genuine sequel, though this might not appeal to all players. The ending is genuinely shocking and fully justifies its M rating. VA-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action ($14.99)

A perennial favorite, VA-11 Hall-A shines with its compelling narrative, memorable soundtrack, striking aesthetic, and exceptional characters. Its seamless transition to the Switch platform makes it a perfect fit, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone. Regardless of your preference for point-and-click adventures, mix drinks and change lives!

The House in Fata Morgana: Dreams of the Revenants Edition ($39.99)

The definitive edition of The House in Fata Morgana is a storytelling masterpiece. This pure visual novel, encompassing the original game and extensive additions, is a stunning achievement. Its success on the Switch platform is well-deserved, providing the optimal playing experience. Prepare for a gothic horror journey that will linger long in your memory, accompanied by an unforgettable soundtrack.

Coffee Talk Episode 1+2 ($12.99 + $14.99)

While sold separately on the eShop and in physical imports, the North American Switch bundle justifies combining Coffee Talk Episodes 1 and 2 here. Though not reaching the heights of VA-11 Hall-A, Coffee Talk offers a relaxing experience with a charming story, appealing pixel art, and a delightful soundtrack. Perfect for coffee lovers and those who enjoy engaging conversations.

Type-Moon's Visual Novels: Tsukihime, Fate/stay night, and Mahoyo (Variable)

This entry encompasses Tsukihime, Fate/stay night Remastered, and Mahoyo. These lengthy visual novels are all exceptional. Fate/stay night serves as an excellent introduction to the genre, while the Tsukihime remake is a standout on the Switch. Witch on the Holy Night (Mahoyo) follows as a worthy successor.

PARANORMASIGHT: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo ($19.99)

Square Enix's PARANORMASIGHT is a surprising gem, boasting a captivating narrative, strong delivery, and engaging mechanics. This mystery adventure game features memorable characters, beautiful art, and inventive gameplay elements. A must-play for fans of horror adventure games.

Gnosia ($24.99)

Described as a sci-fi social deduction RPG, Gnosia blends adventure and visual novel elements. The core gameplay involves identifying imposters and voting to eliminate them. Despite some RNG elements, Gnosia offers a captivating experience. A delightful surprise within the genre.

Steins;Gate Series (Variable)

Spike Chunsoft's Steins;Gate series, particularly Steins;Gate Elite, is crucial for introducing newcomers to visual novels. While the original version is hoped for, Steins;Gate Elite is a fantastic entry point for anime fans. Playing the other games is recommended after experiencing the original story.

AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES and nirvanA Initiative (Variable)

The collaboration of Zero Escape creator Kotaro Uchikoshi and No More Heroes artist Yusuke Kozaki results in two exceptional adventure games. These titles boast high-quality storytelling, music, and characters. A strong alternative to the absent Zero Escape series on Switch.

NEEDY STREAMER OVERLOAD ($19.99)

An adventure game with multiple endings, NEEDY STREAMER OVERLOAD masterfully blends disturbing horror and heartwarming moments. The narrative centers on a young streamer's daily life. A memorable and unique experience.

Ace Attorney Series (Variable)

Capcom has brought the entire Ace Attorney series to Switch. The series is beloved for its engaging gameplay and enduring fanbase. The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles serves as an excellent entry point. The entire series is now accessible on a single handheld.

Spirit Hunter: Death Mark, NG, and Death Mark II (Variable)

The Spirit Hunter trilogy blends horror adventure and visual novel elements with a striking art style. While the grotesque imagery might not appeal to all, the compelling stories and excellent localizations make it a memorable experience.

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim ($59.99)

While not a pure adventure game, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim incorporates real-time strategy battles. This sci-fi masterpiece from Vanillaware and Atlus is a must-play experience, best enjoyed on the Switch's OLED screen in handheld mode.

This list exceeds a typical "top 10," reflecting my desire to include all the games I highly recommend. The inclusion of entire series reflects the exceptional quality within each.
