Cattle Country, a soon-to-be-released Steam game currently available for wishlisting, promises a captivating experience for fans of farming and life sims like Stardew Valley. While sharing Stardew Valley's focus on building wealth through farming, Cattle Country adds a Wild West twist.

Castle Pixel, an independent developer active since 2014 (known for titles like Rex Rocket and Blossom Tales 2: The Minotaur Prince), is venturing into the farming sim genre for the first time with Cattle Country. Steam's official description labels it a "Cozy Cowboy Adventure Life Sim," blending familiar farming mechanics with a unique setting. Expect to build a mountain home, contribute to the town's growth, and cultivate friendships with villagers—all hallmarks of the cozy life sim genre.

Cattle Country's Distinguishing Features:

The game's most striking feature is its Old West setting. The reveal trailer showcases scenes of nighttime cattle herding by campfire light, horse-drawn wagons traversing dusty roads, and even more action-oriented moments like a classic Western shootout and a bare-knuckle brawl in a makeshift arena. Mining is also featured, presented in a 2D style reminiscent of Terraria.

Familiar farming activities will be present, including planting and harvesting crops, using scarecrows, and logging. Festivals, similar to those in Stardew Valley, will also appear, but with a Western flair—imagine a Santa Claus visit and old-fashioned square dances.
