The highly anticipated remake of Persona 4 seems to be gaining credibility, as Yuri Lowenthal, the voice actor behind Yosuke Hanamura in the original game and various Persona spin-offs, recently confirmed on BlueSky that he will not reprise his role for the rumored remake.

In a post addressing fans’ inquiries, Lowenthal stated, “And for those who keep asking, no, I will not be returning as Yosuke for the Persona 4 remake.” He added humorously, “I asked. Maybe I even begged, but they don’t want me to come back.” Although the identity of “they” remains unclear, it is widely speculated to be Atlus, the studio behind the series. However, Atlus has yet to confirm the existence of a Persona 4 remake.

We’ve reached out to Sega/Atlus for further clarification.

Rumors surrounding a Persona 4 remake have persisted for quite some time. Earlier this year, a domain discovery fueled speculation, and previous leaks had hinted at its development. While it’s unconventional for such information to surface through a voice actor’s confirmation, it aligns with the success of Persona 3 Reload, suggesting a remake could be a logical follow-up.

As for timing, Persona 3 Reload was announced during Xbox’s Game Showcase in summer 2023. Fans might expect updates on the rumored Persona 4 remake during similar events this year.
