A prologue quest, "The Lotus Eaters," launches in August 2024, reuniting players with a beloved character and setting the stage for the main event. This prologue, preceding the full 1999 update's winter 2024 release, introduces Sevatgoth Prime and their signature weapons. Completing "The Lotus Eaters" is a prerequisite for experiencing Warframe: 1999.

Warframe: 1999 plunges players into a Y2K-threatened alternate 1999, within the Techrot-infested city of Höllvania. Navigate this retro-futuristic landscape using the new Atomicyles, vehicles capable of bullet jumps, drifts, and explosive maneuvers. Players command the Hex, a team of six heroes, each wielding a Protoframe – a Warframe showcasing the human within.

The Hex boasts a star-studded voice cast, including Alpha Takahashi, Ben Starr, Melissa Medina, and Amelia Tyler. Interact with them via in-game instant messaging, forging connections that might even lead to a new year's kiss.

Face off against On-lyne, a 90s boy band corrupted by Technocyte Coda and led by the charismatic Zeke (voiced by Nick Apostolides). Their infectious music, including the hit single "Party of Your Lifetime," is available on major streaming platforms.

Fashion enthusiasts rejoice! Warframe: 1999 introduces dual fashion frame loadouts and Gemini Skins, allowing players to bring the Protoframes, like Arthur and Aoi, into the Origin system. These skins unlock fully voiced dialogue for combat and idle moments, enhancing the experience with the impressive voice acting talent.

Beyond the core gameplay, Digital Extremes is collaborating with THE LINE to produce an anime short based on Warframe: 1999. Additionally, high-fidelity Heirloom skins for Ember (available now) and Rhino (early 2025) are on the way.
