The original game concluded with a cliffhanger, but this re-release promises expanded story content, potentially resolving the lingering questions from the original ending. Originally launched in 2015 for the Wii U, the game now arrives on the Nintendo Switch.

The new trailer, titled "The Year is 2054," features Elma, a key protagonist, recounting the events that led humanity to the planet Mira. Gameplay footage showcases the Definitive Edition's updated mechanics, adapting the experience for the Nintendo Switch, eliminating the reliance on the Wii U's GamePad.

The Xenoblade Chronicles series, a JRPG creation by Monolith Soft's Tetsuya Takahashi, is a Nintendo exclusive. Expanded Narrative and Streamlined Gameplay

The Definitive Edition introduces new story elements to build upon the original's unresolved ending. This ambitious RPG expands beyond the core BLADE mission (finding the Lifehold), tasking players with exploring Mira, deploying probes, and combating both native and alien lifeforms to secure humanity's future.

The Wii U version heavily utilized the GamePad for mapping, character interactions, and both single-player and online multiplayer. The Switch adaptation seamlessly integrates these features. The GamePad's functionality is now within a dedicated menu, a mini-map resides in the upper-right corner (consistent with other Xenoblade titles), and other UI elements have been smoothly integrated onto the main screen.
