Controversial streamer Dr Disrespect, real name Herschel "Guy" Beahm IV, has publicly acknowledged inappropriate communications with an underage individual, explaining the reason behind his 2020 Twitch ban. This admission follows a June 21st Twitter claim by former Twitch employee Cody Conners alleging Dr Disrespect was banned for "sexting a minor" via the now-defunct Twitch Whispers.

Initially denying wrongdoing, Dr Disrespect later released a statement on June 25th confirming inappropriate conversations with a minor via Twitch Whispers. He clarified that these interactions occurred in 2017, not 2020 as initially suggested, and insisted there were no malicious intentions, and no meeting ever took place. His statement, viewed millions of times within hours of its release, sparked significant online debate, including criticism for initially omitting the word "minor" from his tweet.

The controversy also impacted Dr Disrespect's involvement with Midnight Society, the game development studio he co-founded. While Midnight Society announced a termination of their relationship, citing adherence to principles and standards, Dr Disrespect described the separation as a mutual decision, offering apologies to his team, community, and family.

Despite the fallout, Dr Disrespect plans a return to streaming following an "extended" break, refuting accusations of predatory behavior.
