After defeating Guilen, The Fire Eater, players will advance further through the Zone of Lava to face their next major story boss: Gyalva. To simplify this encounter, fight from one of the two ends of the bridge.

Unlike earlier battles, your movement here is heavily restricted, and the bridge platforms will constantly be shaken and knocked around by the boss. Players should frequently jump toward Gyalva and use wind magic to inflict as much damage as possible in short bursts.

Though Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana is a remake of Ys III and continues the franchise's long-running narrative, Gyalva is a new boss not present in the original. This fiery foe employs a range of attacks, and while the overall strategy is straightforward, it can deal substantial damage quickly. Gyalva flies across the bridge during the encounter, frequently hurling sections of it into the air with fiery assaults.

Spinning Attacks

Gyalva uses two variations of a spinning attack. The first sends it sweeping over a section of the bridge, causing the plates it touches to spin upward. The second involves it flying straight across the full length of the bridge, flipping all the plates as it passes. Both attacks can quickly drain your health if you're under-leveled.

Avoid the first by running to either side of the targeted zone. For the second, the only safe spots are the ledges at each end of the bridge. Staying near one ledge makes it easier to quickly reach safety.

Fire Blast

Gyalva launches a fireball at the bridge, thrusting plates upward upon impact. Getting hit causes damage, but the attack also creates an opening to land several hits on the boss.

Bursting Torches

The torches lining the bridge will periodically erupt in flames while a fireball travels from one torch to another. Contact with these flames damages the player. Though it's difficult to predict exactly when they'll ignite, once a burst ends, it's safe to pass through that area.
