Dataminer Finds Hara-Kiri Animations in Mortal Kombat 1, May Become Quitalities

A Mortal Kombat 1 dataminer has uncovered intriguing evidence suggesting that the iconic fighting game may introduce Hara-Kiri Fatalities as Quitalities in future updates. Redditor InfiniteNightZ shared a video showcasing what appear to be Hara-Kiri Fatalities in Mortal Kombat 1. For those unfamiliar, Hara-Kiri finishers, first seen in Mortal Kombat: Deception in 2004, involve the losing player performing a self-Fatality.

.reddit-embed-wrapper iframe { margin-left: 0 !important; }The discovery of Hara-Kiri animations for recently added DLC characters like Ghostface lends weight to the theory that these animations will be incorporated into Mortal Kombat 1. "After seeing that they're adding it to the downloaded roster now, I think it's highly possible," InfiniteNightZ commented.

Furthermore, InfiniteNightZ suggested that these Hara-Kiri animations might be implemented as Quitalities, a feature mentioned in the game's code. Quitalities are quick finishers that activate when a player quits a multiplayer match, a mechanic seen in previous Mortal Kombat games. "They are listed as Quitalities, there's still hope," InfiniteNightZ stated regarding the animations.

Another well-known Mortal Kombat 1 dataminer, Interloko, also found additional Hara-Kiri animations following InfiniteNightZ's discovery.

Here are another 2 missing from the video, so looks like only Omniman and Conan doesn't have one.

I didn't try to trigger it in the game because I'm bussy finishing some stuff of the demo of my own game https://t.co/TqBKyauY0G pic.twitter.com/hL4QzLRXwf

However, it's important to remember that these findings might not lead to any official changes, as neither NetherRealm nor Warner Bros. Games has confirmed the addition of Quitalities to Mortal Kombat 1.

The game has recently seen a revival with the introduction of a secret fight against Floyd, the pink ninja, and the community's efforts to decipher his unlock conditions. Fans also have the T-1000 guest character to anticipate, with potential future DLCs on the horizon, although nothing has been officially confirmed by NetherRealm yet.
