Embracer has celebrated the remarkable success of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, announcing that sales are nearing the 2 million mark. Launched on February 4 across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, the game sold an impressive 1 million copies just a day after its release, and within 10 days, it nearly doubled that figure.

This medieval Europe action role-playing game sequel, developed by Warhorse Studios, has proven to be a phenomenal hit, particularly on Steam, where it achieved a peak of over 250,000 concurrent players. This is a significant increase compared to the first Kingdom Come: Deliverance, which peaked at 96,069 concurrent players on Steam seven years ago. It's important to note that the total peak concurrent player count for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is likely even higher, considering its availability on consoles, although Sony and Microsoft do not disclose these numbers.

Embracer, through its subsidiary Plaion, which owns Warhorse Studios, described the game's launch as "initially successful" in terms of player and critic reception, as well as commercial performance. Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors praised the dedication and hard work of Warhorse Studios and publisher Deep Silver, expressing confidence that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will continue to generate significant revenue in the coming years. The game's roadmap includes updates and new content over the next 12 months, promising a continually evolving experience for its community.

Wingefors added that the game has significantly outperformed their expectations. In addition to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Embracer has Killing Floor 3 slated for release later this quarter (January to March 2025).

Embracer's portfolio is robust, with over 5,000 game developers working on upcoming projects. The company plans to release 10 triple-A games over the next three financial years, with eight of these coming from internal studios and two from external ones. In FY 2025/26, Embracer is set to release two triple-A games towards the end of the year, alongside several mid-size titles including Gothic 1 Remake, REANIMAL, Fellowship, Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core, Titan Quest II, Screamer, Echoes of the End (working title), Tides of Tomorrow, Satisfactory (console), and the full release of Wreckfest 2, with additional mid-sized games yet to be announced.

Despite recent challenges, including layoffs and the sale of studios like Gearbox and Saber Interactive, Embracer still owns 4A Games, the developer of the Metro series, which is currently working on a new game in the franchise.
