人气Twitch主播PointCrow在历时15个月，经历数千次重置后，终于完成了极具挑战性的《口袋妖怪火红》游戏通关。这项名为“改造铁单精灵”（Kaizo IronMon）的挑战，将传统的Nuzlocke玩法提升到了一个全新的难度级别。
挑战规则仅允许使用一只精灵，战胜联盟四天王的道路几乎不可能。然而，经过一系列艰难的战斗后，他90级的火精灵最终击败了冠军蓝的土居忍士，正式完成了“改造铁单精灵”挑战。激动得热泪盈眶的他喊出了：“3978次重置和一个梦想！我们做到了！”
作为“铁单精灵挑战”中最难的变体之一，它限制玩家只能用一只精灵与训练师战斗，精灵的属性和招式都是随机的，并且只能使用基础属性值低于600的精灵（进化后属性值超过600的精灵例外）。完整的规则列表相当冗长，其目的就是为了让挑战者面临极高的难度。
虽然PointCrow并非第一个完成这项挑战的人，但他坚持完成挑战的精神仍然值得称赞。
Nuzlocke：所有口袋妖怪挑战的源头
Nuzlocke挑战起源于加利福尼亚州的编剧Nick Franco。2010年，他在4chan的游戏板块发布漫画，展示了他在极端规则下进行的《口袋妖怪红宝石》游戏流程。这项挑战在4chan以外获得了关注，并启发了众多口袋妖怪玩家尝试这种独特的体验。
最初，只有两条规则。第一条规则允许挑战者在每个新地点只捕捉一只精灵；第二条规则规定，如果一只精灵昏倒，就必须将其放生。除了难度增加之外，Franco在他的网站上解释说，这“让他比以往任何时候都更关心他的精灵伙伴”。
自从Nuzlocke挑战出现以来，许多玩家引入了新的限制来增加游戏的趣味性和难度。例如，一些玩家使用他们遇到的第一只野生精灵，或者完全避免任何野生精灵的遭遇。其他人甚至会随机化初始精灵，为他们的游戏流程增加意想不到的转折。然而，玩家可以根据自己的喜好调整这些规则。
