Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has addressed shareholder concerns in the wake of GTA 6's delayed launch.

Rockstar recently announced a major delay for what's anticipated to be the most significant entertainment release in history. Originally scheduled for fall 2025 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, Grand Theft Auto VI will now arrive on May 26, 2026 - shifting from Take-Two's 2026 fiscal year to its 2027 financial period.

Immediate market reaction saw Take-Two's stock value drop by 7.98%. However, the company reiterated its confidence in achieving record Net Bookings (revenue) for both fiscal 2026 and 2027 in an official statement.

Zelnick personally endorsed Rockstar's decision, telling investors this move positions Take-Two for sustained growth:

"We fully support Rockstar Games taking additional development time to perfect their creative vision for Grand Theft Auto VI, which we believe will redefine entertainment standards," Zelnick stated.

"While we understand the global anticipation for GTA VI, our commitment to quality remains unwavering. Our robust game pipeline will drive multi-year business growth and increased shareholder value."

With GTA 6's projected billion-dollar revenue now delayed, attention turns to Take-Two's alternative offerings. Beyond Rockstar, the conglomerate controls 2K Games and 2K Sports, with several major titles on the horizon including Borderlands 4 (September 2024), Mafia: The Old Country, and NBA 2K26. The company is also developing the next BioShock installment and Ken Levine's Judas project.

However, these releases combined can't match the financial impact of a GTA title. While the delay doesn't surprise most fans, many had hoped for at least new promotional material to temper the announcement's disappointment.
