Warhammer 40,000 has officially landed on Nintendo Switch 2 with the reveal of a Rogue Trader port.

Owlcat Games’ acclaimed cRPG set in the grimdark future of the 41st millennium debuted on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S in December 2023. For newcomers, it’s reminiscent of Baldur’s Gate 3—but immersed in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. IGN’s review of Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader gave it an 8/10, noting: “Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader is a deeply complex, 130-hour space epic with superb writing and combat, though it’s weighed down by numerous bugs.”

The Nintendo Switch 2 version was unveiled at IGN Fall Fan Fest 2025 alongside a new trailer, shown below. No release date has been confirmed.

Since its launch, Rogue Trader has received multiple patches and DLCs from Owlcat Games, including June’s Lex Imperialis expansion, and currently holds a 'very positive' user rating on Steam.

Here’s the official description of Rogue Trader:

Players will step into the role of a Rogue Trader—a descendant of an ancient line of bold privateers who command their own trade protectorate and chart the outer reaches of Imperial space with the Emperor’s blessing. Armed with a Warrant of Trade, the Rogue Trader wields unimaginable authority and the mission to expand the Imperium’s dominion. A colossal voidship, brimming with strength and loyal crew ready to obey without hesitation, is theirs to command. Show your subjects mercy or cruelty, remain faithful to the Emperor or ally with Humanity’s enemies—every choice you make sends ripples across star systems, reshaping the world and its inhabitants.

That’s not all Owlcat revealed at IGN Fan Fest. The studio also announced a Q4 2025 alpha release window for its Rogue Trader successor, Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy.

It’s an exhilarating time for Warhammer 40,000 video games. Alongside the Switch 2 debut of Rogue Trader and the upcoming Dark Heresy, major updates are still on the horizon for titles like Darktide and Space Marine 2. Looking ahead, Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus II, Dawn of War 4, and Space Marine 3 are all in development.
