Denuvo DRM to Be Removed From inZOI

inZOI's development team has confirmed the removal of Denuvo DRM following player concerns. Reports surfaced within the last day indicating the anti-tamper software appeared in the Creative Studio mode demo. Denuvo has long been controversial in gaming circles, with widespread criticism about its potential performance impacts.

This digital rights management technology aims to prevent unauthorized game copying and distribution, though it traditionally limits modding capabilities.

In a March 26 Steam blog update, inZOI director Hyungjun "Kjun" Kim addressed the situation, confirming the Early Access version launching this Friday will be DRM-free. "We implemented Denuvo initially to combat piracy and protect legitimate players' investments. However, after carefully reviewing community input, we recognized this solution didn't match our players' expectations for modding freedom," Kjun explained.

The director also apologized for failing to disclose Denuvo's presence in Creative Studio mode. While acknowledging increased piracy risks without DRM, Kjun emphasized the creative benefits: "We believe sacrificing copy protection for modding flexibility will ultimately create more rewarding, personalized experiences that sustain long-term community engagement."

inZOI's Vision for Player-Created Content

The decision to include Denuvo initially surprised fans, given inZOI's emphasis on being a modding-focused title. The technology would have restricted players' ability to implement custom modifications.

"As highlighted during our Online Showcase, extensive mod support remains core to inZOI's design," Kjun stated. "Our first official mod tools will debut in May, supporting Maya and Blender integration for custom content creation. This represents just our initial phase - we plan to progressively expand modding capabilities across all game systems."

Krafton has committed to sharing detailed modding documentation separately, reinforcing their player-first approach of incorporating feedback to refine the experience.
