Mafia: The Old Country Voice Acting Will Use Authentic Sicilian Rather Than Modern Italian

开发商Hangar 13在推特上解释道：“真实性是《黑手党》系列的核心。 《黑手党：旧国度》将使用西西里语配音，与游戏在20世纪西西里岛的背景设定相符。” 他们随后确认：“游戏内UI和字幕将提供意大利语本地化。”
最初的混乱源于游戏Steam页面列出了六种具有“完整配音”的语言：英语、法语、德语、捷克语和俄语。 然而，尽管之前的《黑手党》游戏都包含意大利语，但这次却缺失了意大利语配音，这促使粉丝们质疑开发商的选择，许多人感到被冒犯，因为黑手党起源于意大利。
幸运的是，Hangar 13决定在游戏中使用西西里语配音，这一决定得到了粉丝们的热烈欢迎。西西里语虽然与标准意大利语密切相关，但它拥有自己独特的词汇和文化细微差别。例如，“对不起”在意大利语中是“scusa”，而在西西里语中是“m'â scusari”。
此外，西西里岛位于欧洲、非洲和中东的交汇处。正因如此，希腊语、阿拉伯语、诺曼法语和西班牙语都对西西里语留下了印记。这种语言多样性可能是开发商选择使用西西里语而不是意大利语的原因。这与2K Games在其新闻稿中承诺的“真实的现实主义”相符。
这款即将推出的《黑手党》游戏承诺将呈现一个“设定在20世纪西西里岛残酷黑社会中的残酷黑帮故事”。虽然具体的发布日期尚未公布，但2K Games暗示粉丝们将在12月份对《黑手党：旧国度》有更深入的了解。鉴于年度游戏颁奖典礼也将在同一个月举行，很可能届时会公布更多信息。
