"Streamers Win Hazelight Studios Trip After Secret Stage Completion"

Split Fiction Streamers Earn a Trip to Hazelight Studios After Completing Secret Stage
The gaming community has been abuzz with excitement as streamers sharkOvO and E1uM4y conquered the challenging "Laser Hell" secret stage in Split Fiction, earning themselves a coveted trip to Hazelight Studios. This achievement underscores the game's ongoing success and the innovative surprises it continues to offer players. Read on to discover more about the Laser Hell challenge and what's next for Hazelight Studios following Split Fiction's triumphant launch.
Split Fiction Continues With More Surprises
First Players to Finish "Laser Hell" Challenge Earn a Trip to Hazelight Studios
Following its successful launch last month, Split Fiction has kept players engaged with hidden gems like the "Laser Hell" stage. This notoriously difficult level was recently conquered by Chinese streamers sharkOvO and E1uM4y, who shared their triumph on BiliBili. To access this stage, players must press a specific sequence of switches in the elevator within the Isolation level, transporting them to a laser-filled platform.
Their successful completion of the challenge unlocked a special message from Hazelight's founder, Josef Fares, who congratulated the duo and revealed that even most of the studio's developers struggled with the level. Fares then extended an invitation for them to visit Hazelight Studios in Sweden. Shortly after, Fares acknowledged their achievement on Twitter (X) on March 19, stating, "Congrats to 'sharkOvO' and 'E1uM4y' for finishing the secret challenge 'Laser Hell' in #splitficton. VERY impressive! I will keep my promise and invite you both to Sweden for an early look at our next game. We'll be in touch!"
Hazelight Studios Working On Its Next Game
In a recent interview on the Friends Per Second podcast on March 17, Josef Fares discussed Hazelight's relationship with publisher EA and teased the studio's next project. Fares shared that while Split Fiction was a special release, his focus quickly shifts to new ventures. "For me, personally, every time a game is out, I'm kind of done with it. I'm kind of like, 'OK, here's the next thing,'" he said. He emphasized the excitement surrounding their next game, which they started working on a month ago, but remained tight-lipped about specifics. "There is a reason why I can't talk about the next game; it's because it's quite early," Fares explained, adding that Hazelight typically completes projects within three to four years.
Regarding their partnership with EA, Fares was clear: "Here's the thing, people don't understand this: EA is a supporter. We don't pitch games to them. We say, 'We're going to do this.' That's it. They have zero, and I mean zero, thing to say about what we're doing next." He praised EA's hands-off approach, highlighting how it has fostered Hazelight's success, despite the publisher's mixed reputation in the industry.
First Update and Hitting 2 Million Sales in 1 Week
On March 17, Split Fiction received its first update, addressing several community-reported issues. The update includes fixes for in-game mechanics, minor glitches in online play, and improvements in localization and subtitles across all languages.
Additionally, Split Fiction achieved a remarkable milestone by selling over 2 million copies within just one week of its launch. This impressive feat contrasts with Hazelight's previous success, It Takes Two, which sold 1 million copies shortly after its release in 2021 and reached 20 million by October 2024.
Split Fiction is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. To stay updated with the latest news and developments, be sure to check out our article below!
