Age of History: Africa is a captivating turn-based strategy game where players vie for control of the African continent. This global conquest involves strategic territorial acquisition, capital sieges, and infrastructure development across 436 distinct regions.
Engaging Gameplay
Age of History: Africa offers a blend of accessibility and depth. Beginners will find the gameplay intuitive, while seasoned strategists will be challenged to master its complexities. With over 436 regions and 223 unique civilizations, players can test their strategic and diplomatic skills in diverse game modes and campaigns. The game's minimalist yet realistic graphics enhance the immersive experience.
Game Mechanics
Players submit orders before each round, limited by their available Movement Points. Civilizations then execute actions in a randomized turn order.
Map and Key Features
The capital city is paramount. Losing it for three consecutive turns leads to a civilization's collapse. Capturing an enemy capital grants control over all its provinces. Capitals provide significant offensive and defensive bonuses (+15% each) and start with all buildings constructed.
The map displays neutral (transparent) and controlled (colored) provinces. Zoom functionality is available, with an indicator in the minimap's top-right corner showing non-standard zoom levels.
Economy and Population Management
Dedicated buttons allow players to view economic and population data for each province. The diplomacy button facilitates interaction and information gathering.
Treasury System
Income is generated through taxation based on population and economy. Military upkeep, higher for naval units, deducts from the treasury.
Order Types (Normal View)
- Move: Relocate units between controlled provinces or initiate attacks.
- Recruit: Raise units in a province, incurring costs and population reduction.
- Build: Construct buildings in provinces at a cost.
- Disband: Remove units to reduce upkeep.
- Vassal: Establish a vassal state.
- Annex: Reintegrate a vassal state.
Order Types (Diplomacy View)
- War: Declare war.
- Peace: Propose a peace treaty.
- Pact: Offer a non-aggression pact (five rounds, cancellable).
- Alliance: Form a military alliance.
- Kick: Dissolve an alliance.
- Support: Provide financial aid.
Building Types
- Fort: Provides a defensive bonus.
- Watch Tower: Reveals enemy unit numbers in adjacent provinces.
- Port: Enables naval movement. Naval units can land on any province, regardless of port presence.
